Iowa | Was just looking for some info on this today and I really don't think the frost charts can be applied to this. I think it will really be hybrid specific. If ears have dropped but you still have a lot of green leaf area maybe some movement of starches will continue. If you see some leaves starting to turn purple starch accumulation has probably ceased in the ear and is now accumulating in leaves meaning it has nowhere to go. My best guess would be 10-15% yield loss if half milk line. Sucks to watch happen to a crop that had such good potential. Its interesting to note some of the hybrid and management differences that have allowed some crops to hang on a little longer than others. | |
