it's not unknown to have a “bad” approved drive from case, we had one ourselves, so we went to using San disc drives and haven’t had a issue since.
Not sure if this applies to your machine, but make sure you are allowing the monitor to do it’s own power down, if someone shut the combine down, and hopped out and shut the power disconnect off right away, without waiting for monitor to power down, that will cause a loss of data.
lastly it could be a software incompatibility issue, but typically that throws a error code of it’s own.
