Subject: MEND / ReCODE protocol

Pittsburg, Kansas

Here is an article critical of the MEND protocol talked about by Dr Bredesen.

Basically it says it is pseudoscience because it has not met scientific rigor by having randomized controlled trials. I fully agree that those trials are needed. But if there is loads of anecdotal positive evidence and there are parts of the protocol that we can implement easily and cheaply, doesn't it make sense to error on the cautious side and make the effort to improve our health?

The company the article talks about.  https://museslabs.com/

More about the protocol  https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4991646/

"The MEND protocol, described in the study, includes more than 2 dozen interventions. Among the most significant, in Bredesen’s view, are a requirement to fast at least 3 hours before sleep and at least 12 hours between evening and morning meals. A gluten-free diet, yoga, or another form of mindfulness, and a number of natural agents including curcumin, fish oil, vitamin D, and others are also included."

I understand the argument that to adopt something for widespread use it should met scientific rigor. But if I have cognitive decline, anecdotal evidence for me would be enough as long as the treatment was a reasonable one. Just my opinion. Not medical advice.

Insulin resistance, for anyone following any of my threads, is a big issue with me. And it appears to be a big factor in dementia also. So the part of the protocol that addresses reducing insulin levels makes a lot of sense to me.

The full protocol here. Now called ReCODE  https://mybiohack.com/blog/dale-bredesen-protocol-recode-alzheimers-mend

He gets into the protocol in this interview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7voxrwLNr0g

His book - if you have Amazon prime you get two audiobooks credits a month and can get it free audiobook that way. https://www.amazon.com/End-Alzheimers-Program-Protocol-Cognition/dp/0525538496/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=dr+dreseden+alzheimers+book&qid=1599652984&sr=8-1
