North Central Iowa | If patient, can probably find 500 unlocked to rtk for not much more. I just picked up another one for $2300 last week on eBay. Biggest theoretical downside of a 500 vs something like the 750 is will only pick up U.S. gps satellites, but I’ve rarely found that to be a problem. And if, for only a few minutes. I have mostly open fields, some trees by acreages.
Of course, 750 has bigger screen, touch screen, etc, but for use to steer tractor what more does it need to do? I use rtk in planter tractor, kinze planter using the kpm iii for monitor. Iowa cors network for rtk service.
Now if looking to combine everything into one screen, such as planter monitoring and steering, can’t do that with 500.
The other argument is to future proof your purchase for other capabilities, but my thought by the time I do that I will buy a good used system at that time. Might be 5 plus years. | |
