ESW ND | Soooo, after 39 years I figured I need to expand my horizons and turn over a new leaf. So, I bought a tin of king oscar anchovies. Now mind you, I've NEVER eaten an anchovy before, so I didn't know what to expect. I'd love to see the fillet knife, to see how they filleted those tiny little things that thin. I don't know if they are naturally that salty, but they were BEEEYOOOOND salty. If the ocean could sweat, THAT is what they tasted like. I think they would have had good flavor if they weren't so darn salty. The oil wasn't salty, but they sure were. I just couldn't eat them. In 5 fillets, there was 860mg of salt. There were also about 2.5 servings to the tin. The dog wouldn't eat them and the cat's refused as well.
So, are anchovies naturally that salty or did that come from the preservation of them? The sardines I had from kind oscar were good. | |
