Manola,Ab, Ca | I have never cared for the flavour or texture of frozen carrots. Last fall I pulled the carrots and used a plastic tote to store them. I didn’t wash the carrots, just brushed off excess dirt and trimmed the tops.
I then placed a layer of damp washed sand in the bottom of the tote. I added a layer of carrots, keeping them from touching one another. Then covered with a layer of sand. I continued the process until all the carrots were stored. I finished with a layer of sand.
The tote was stashed in my heated garage. I keep the thermostat set as low as it goes, around 50 degrees F. We had garden fresh carrots until April.
