Live for a while in milford ct..working for sikorski...used to watch the saturday
sailing classes for the kids down in the harbor...I think sunfishes were a popular
small sailboat....Didn't look easy, they were trying to go a certain pattern and
follow each other....Did you take lessons or have a boat to learn on? Always wanted
to try it...
I read a lot about basic sailing and took it to a small lake. Mostly trial and error at first. Once you understand the principles, pretty much the same no matter the boat. It is nice to have a crew in a fresh breeze, as there is not much time to change the sails and set a new heading. It is a challenge in a strong wind.
i did get the to take the wheel on a racing yacht in Puget Sound. really just had maintain a dead reckoning course with some heading changes, , but still kind of neat.
