The Nanostation is a radio that can do multiple things. It can act as an access point, or a station (receiving device), a repeater, or a router.  It's best when being used as an AP or Station.  In Station mode it can connect to any wireless network, as long as you know the credentials to access it.  There are lots of instructions on the web for configuring one.
