I made stands to hang the doors from in my shop. I used a HVLP gun to spray them. It worked great. You can spray them pretty quick. I would shoot a coat on and let them set a bit and shoot a second coat. I used a satin paint if I remember right. I think I might have used some kind of paint conditioner.
