Leesburg, Ohio | Don's comments are right on.
We have had AL2000 and then PF3000 on our last three JD combines. Have always liked AL, and really like their support. The last combine had greenstar, which the dealer removed so I could install the PF3000. Had extensive flakey electrical problems as a result (header wouldn't go down, reel speed wouldn't work...), until our JD tech figured out it required a simple jumper wire in the unused GS harness...no more problems.
Just traded for a newer 9550 with GS, and decided to keep it and give it a try, and add starfire itc for mapping. Kept our PF3000, tho, since dealer would give us anything for it, and we use it for tile layout and mapping on our RTV.
So far we are liking the GS OK. Wish it had more flexibility in setting up the display...it only gives total pounds harvested on the display, not bushels, for example. if there's a way to change it, I haven't figured it out...maybe someone will help out here?? I always thought the calibration method on the Agleader was better (cal changes apply to all previous loads), but I'm re-thinking that theory now...not so sure. The calibration seems to hold more stable that our Agleader did in it's later years...the 3000 seemed to be less stable the last two years than it used to be. Had cal problems three or four years back for a while until we changed the old stainless mass sensor plate to the rubber covered one...looks OK still. Haven't downloaded any info from the card yet...might do that after the game today, since it's raining...AGAIN.
Both good products. I like the flexibility of AL, and the simplicity of the GS. | |
