Subject: Preparing Fields For Planting Question

Hey Guys,

I live in Northwest Oklahoma where our biggest crop is Hard Red Winter Wheat. We are still conventional tillage. We are going to plant a few acres of Winter Canola this fall with our John Deere 1910 and 730 airseeder. We are also going to try and plant 160 acres to Sesame next Spring with this airseeder. I know both these crops have very small seeds and we are only planting around 3 pounds an acre. I know we want a very nice firm seed bed before we plant either one of these crops. Our fields are a sandy loam type soil. I was just wondering if you guys thought it would be a good idea to run over these fields in front of the airseeder with our 5 bar harrow? I didn't know if this would help the airseeder since it has cultivators and a rolling basket in front of the disk openers?

Thank you,
