South Central Wisconsin | You can do it! Or, maybe: Your Wife Can Do It!
Know your kids and your style of teaching. Do what works for you. It will constantly evolve as the year progress and you talk with other folks about what they're doing. We are constantly learning about new things and methods. There's a few stand-bys we use but most of our homeschooling is "ala cart" mixture of various curriculum. Each subject is a little different. We use multiple different curriculum's for math - depending on each kid's learning style and age. Writing is all the same except the advanced stuff. Science is added to regular life learning (gardening, carpentry, cooking etc.). Geography and history come in spurts. Sometimes book-based, other times activity-based. Patience, patience! Especially learning to read :)
Pay attention to your kids and your teacher. Be challenging but don't shame yourself if it's not someone else's definition of perfect. A parent actively engaged in their child's upbringing is more effective than any curriculum.
