I guess I don't really see it making a difference. You will be paid off of the carcass weight, which won't be weighed until Tuesday, the critter should be pretty empty and fully shrunk by then no matter when you hauled it. When you take to NFO they weigh them individually off of your trailer, then when you get the results back they have a different live weight and carcass weight shown. I assume your selling holsteins because their not going to Tama, I only sold blacks. I think I did better at NFO than the local sale barns, but never really great. I always get a few premiums but not great, when I convert dollars to live weight comparison I normally ended up solidly in the top range of the published sales barn results. Another thing is when you sell thru the sales barn you have your check within days, NFO can take up to 2 weeks to get your check. Like I said this was not holsteins, no experience there, and I will continue to sell thru NFO!
