Subject: corn leaves channel rain drops down to the base

Clark SD

In a post a ways down about narrow row corn https://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=941732&mid=8410276#M8410276   Boone & Crockett noted that " corn leaves by design channel rain drops down to the base ". There might be something to that. About 2 days after our last rain i was checking soil moisture in a corn field using a soil sampling probe, took a sample mid way between two rows and one at the base of the corn plant. There appeared to be more moisture in the topsoil next to the base of plant compared to the core taken midway between rows. A few days later i did the same test and found the direct opposite.
