South Central MN | The worst looking no-till beans I have done were on fields that had fine shredded residue deposited in windrows that was too fine for a baler to pick up, I imagine a chopping head would be the same way this far north. I run a CIH 1063 head, granted I hug the ground with it but where only the header has gone the beans look bad at first but get going good later on. Can't tell the difference when the whole field looks the same anyways.
Here I think you either have to turn the stalks to dust or else leave them stand, not much of an in-between IMO. | |
