I think it depends a lot on upon where you are located. I have been adding it at the same time for a few years and my crop scout didn't think it was necessary. 2 years ago I did a 100 acre field with 50 acres only fungicide and 50 with both fungicide and insecticide. the 50 without insecticide was right in the middle of the field. We kept checking the aphid pressure on it and they never reached threshold levels but at harvest time the beans with insecticide yielded 9 bu more on one side and 7 bu more on the other side. Could see it on the imagery maps a week after it was sprayed. That made a believer out of me and him! I don't know if the threshold level recommendation is too high or there is synergy between the two. This was using Trivapro and Endigo. Here in Minnesota it's not if you will get aphids, just how bad they will be!
