Scranton | 2012 was a different beast. We've had less rain in june and july this year than 12 (and we were one of the worst spots in 12 in Iowa according to my insurance adjustor). In 12 the hot dry winds started and completely sucked the life out of the crop. I took sprayer around and took pics above the crop about july 20...about half of many fields were completely brown by then.
I also agree the new hybrids appear to be much more protective early on. That rolling you see saves their yield...I hope. | |
