Heard that talk since I can remember even caring.
Never been to SA myself. I know several on here have. Were/are you in envy of the farmers there? Which countries have a better life than us? Beer colder? Better pool tables? Prettier ladies? Better fishing? Safer? Softer beds? Better water? More opportunities for next generation?
Not doubting. Just asking?
Fact: Like most, both of my grandfathers just "got by". My mom and dad have lived better. I have lived better than my parents. All three of my kids have everything they need and take more vacations than their mom and I ever did and that makes me happy. My two grand kiddos are nearly impossible to buy for. All four sets of their great grandparents are still healthy and still likely increasing net worth. Gonna have to get bad fast for their pasture not to always be green. Possible sure. But not likely.
Back about 14 years ago I spent 2 weeks in Argentina with my uncle that was there working... we drove 5000 miles and stayed in 6-7 different towns most were the size of a Carbondale, or a litchfield... people were making ok money there at the time and most were well dressed.. had a decent house and something reliable to drive... the food was excellent,,, that was in my drinking
Days and the beer and wine were excellent... about 9oclock in the evening it was like someone flipped a light switch and every long dress suddenly became a mini skirt... I don’t think I saw a overweight woman in the whole two weeks I was there... and 90% of them were smoking hot..I felt safe everywhere I went even when I was by myself and never felt like I got taken advantage of when I was alone since I didn’t speak Spanish .. there was no crime ...I live in a town of 1000 people here in central Illinois born and raised and the small town restaurants I went into reminded me of home... a bunch of farmers sitting around talking and shooting the ****... people were the same as here just different faces really .. everything was a lot cheaper in price but the quality was just as good ... i would say the quality of the food was even better..I ate fish one day in a restaurant for lunch and the owners told me it was caught that morning in the lake outside of town.. it seemed to me there was a lot of opportunity there if you wanted to work ... and don’t seem like there was a lot of regulation holding anyone back..
Was it better than here? I don’t really know wasn’t there long enough... but it definitely looked very similar |
