Deaner,

I am curious if you have observed any differences in the drought tolerance of your 60" vs. 30" corn.

2018 (the first year we tried some corn on 60" rows) was very dry in June and July in W. IL. To my surprise, the corn planted on 60" rows (averaging about 4" apart) seemed to curl less than adjacent corn planted on 30" rows.

hope that you get some good rains soon.

I have not seen any difference within our organic fields. We have very little 30” rows on that farm planted at the same time. Our organic seems to hold on longer than the chemical neighbors, but they usually plant earlier. This year, one neighbor planted within a day of ours and ours showed drought stress later. That could be variety and population though because they plant much higher population, narrow rows, and entirely different varieties.
We just can’t seem to get a big rain. 0.5 yesterday, biggest rain since May was 0.75 at one farm.
