Nebraska | I did as you suggested. I also disconnected the large supply line at the drier to see if compressor quit pumping. At around 122 psi from my shop supply the air governor opened and air comes out the line going to the purge valve on the air drier. The pump continues to pump and does not shut down.
When hooked up normally, the purge valve is acting like a relief valve and letting off the excess pressure.
My truck has a Wabco air drier.
