Maybe some yield difference but I think it would be difficult to find much significant yield differences. Neighbor of mine bought a field ready 24 row box planter in the $20s that will plant 36 ac/ hr @ 5 mph 100% efficiency. The precision highspeed 12 row will need to be pulled at 8 mph to achieve 80% of 24 row and with all the hydraulic requirements of that planter the tractor pulling it will easily pull a 24 row box planter. Neighbor loves to brag about how little he paid for his planter and the acres per day it plants. I have thought myself maybe having a extra 24 row planter for wet spring wouldn't be a bad idea. The guy in this video has less invested in a planter and tractor than a 12 row precision high speed. A little extreme on the tractor side for me though.

I agree that unbiased replicated data would be interesting on the subject but IMO the condition of the planter and the operator are more important than the technology.
