My take on this is it's typical marketing that a lot of time are not based on market conditions. When they are selling they price it not by cost of the product but how much the market will bear. When buying the product is also is not based on cost of production. As long as there are sellers these is no need to raise prices. When companies become huge it easier to play this game as there few players.
