S Illinois | Very little corn grown in that delta and most definitely not 20% of the worlds supply. Chinese corn acres are further north and east. Soybeans are virtually non existent in that valley also. China grows a significant amount of wheat but knowing where the bulk of wheat in the US and all over the world is grown, a river delta in a rainy area is one of the last places to grow that so it should not be be a worry
Rice is likely the biggest crop that could be affected. Also I have seen mention of rapeseed type products being grown there. There is likely some cotton but I don’t know as to what extent it’s grown in that delta.
This seems more like a fear piece than truly fact based. Look up Arlan Sudermann on twitter. He sometimes mentions his ag contacts over there and what is a more plausible on the ground update. | |
