I am most definitely a Chicago based professional grain trader for the past 20+ years... I don't hide that,,, I did come from a farmer based background... I've found I've been the most profitable trading by understanding the cost of money... for farmers around the world... transportation around the world... and storage around the world. That accounts for the bulk of your spread margins (particularly in the US when it comes to the CBOT contracts),,, the flat price is a bit trickier : )
