Sourthern WI | I work for a manufacturer in the boating industry. Times are good....very good. Boating, as it turns out, is an ideal social distancing activity.
I live near several major towns with no shortage of Lowes, Menards, local yards, etc. I had to drive 45 minutes (three towns away) to find a lumber yard with pressure treated 4x4's. I talked to guy at the local Menards and they were burning through a months worth of landscaping goods in the period of a week. It used to be the only time of the year they would run out of carts was on black Friday. Earlier this spring that was happening every Saturday. They were doing 75% of a typical Saturday business on a Monday. If you root around on the web, you'll find a report from Bank of American that the stimulus checks went three places - home improvement, electronics, and the bank.
Now, here's the question, has this simply front end loaded things and demand will actually drop dramatically later this year? You can only do so much fixing on your house.
