Subject: RE: Thinking about getting a standby residential generator...

We have a 22.5 kw Kohler standby. Has JD LP air cooled engine hooked into our 1,000 gal house tank. Going on 4 yrs, no issues so far. . Dealer we bought it from sold both Generac & Kohler. Went with the Kohler based on his refommendation.

Had a PTO gen / manual transfer switch since 1978 prior to buying the standby. No fun getting out in sub 0 weather with wind & snow blowing, getting it hooked up and running. Older I got the more I hated it. Power would go out & would pull covers up and wait till house got so cold I'd finally give up,& go hook up the generator. Usually power would come back on within an hour after hooking up generator. Now, most times dont even know the power has been out .
