Well if you're going to be seeding shallow most of the time, use the bottom hole. The 1590 OM tells you to run the bottom hole for shallow depth seeding. I've never used the bottom holes but it would really help seed placement in the less than 3/4 inch depth range. I could never justify the labor to lower the boots for the few acres that I need to be shallow.
