Be careful of any of those companies. They are technically "legit" but they are very good at using wording that makes them appear to be government and they are NOT. When I first got my DOT # I had a company called USDOT or something of that nature send me an email saying I needed to update and for $70 or something they would do it. I had no clue so they charged me the $70 to download the mcs150 form from their website. That was it; no help on filling it out or how to submit it. I could have done everything for free on the FMCSA website.

Since then, I have joined the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association (pmta) as a member they offer lots of services including help with compliance issues, mostly at no cost to members. You may want to see if your state has a similar organization.

My recommendation, never let a compliance company talk you into their services with misleading emails like that. In my opinion, their tactics should be illegal.
