Somerville, Indiana | I had a 68 1256 for ten years, traded for a 78 875 Versy, neighbor has the 1256 now...Uncle bought his 1456 the next year after mine..
Another neighbor bought a 1456 used, all good tractors high HP for their time..
Noticeable difference between the 12 and 14 series was:
the 12 had a two roller injection pump, 14 had a four roller pump, both Roosa Master
the 14 turned the front axle about 22* so the bolt holes were angled, easy to spot that difference
the 14 came out with a muffler
common weak point was the 4 inch O'Ring in the steering block below the radiator, easy to R and R, 66 came out with an external cylinder to fix, 86 perfected with a better cylinder, my 1256 was front end light with 12 weights pulling a 6 bottom Oliver plow that Minneapolis Moline painted red...Had four rear wheel weights on each side with fluid in 23.1 singles
The engine has good torque, like the 1206 361 engine, the 407 is in construction equipment as well, 86 series has wet sleeve engine, less low rippems torque
When I saw my uncle's new 14 working with a muffler, how quiet it was, I made a trip to Adams and Morrow and bought a muffler that fit my 12 | |
