Flow controls are inherently bad for generating heat unless connected to a pfc system as the excess flow goes from system to return pressure without doing any work, just generating heat.
I think the only real gain you can make is a cooler on the return, but unless it's actually causing a problem, I wouldn't bother. It won't change the efficiency, just get rid of heat before the tractor.
Does the tractor have a flow control that you could turn down but still allow the planter to work properly? Any chance the planter is a closed center system running on an open center tractor? The planter is likely open center if they're also run with pto pumps. | |
