provost, AB | Urea does have a coating and the manufacturing process sometimes doesnt put enough on. Urea prill can vary in diameter from 1.5mm to 4mm diameter. The smaller the poorer quality and more likely to break up faster. I've found that the lower priced (or price special) urea is usually crap. They'll put on a price special to get rid of it. Last year there was plenty of complaints (and pictures) on Twitter about caked up metering boxes on all air tanks. Not just bourgault.
We switched to liquid N and S and apply through mid row banders 15 years ago. We were using ordinary phosphate in row. Got it delivered directly from Twin Cities one year and it had a bunch of caked up pieces in it about the size of a ping pong ball. Looked like it was mixed with molasses. Screened out as much as I could. It gummed up the flighting on my bourgault real bad. We now switched to https://powerrich.com/ phosphate with micros. Quality and product consistency is 100% | |
