| I had a New Holland 355 grinder mixer and I used it to grind ear corn to feed to calves I was pre-conditioning. I would grind ear corn till I got the it up to just above the cone on the mixing tank, add my cottonseed meal, mineral, and sometime other supplements. Then I go back to grinding ear corn till the tank was full. Then I would stop, disengage the hammermill and then just run the mixing tank. But I would run the tractor at PTO speed and let it just mix for ten to fifteen minutes before unloading in a gravity box on a wagon to hand out of. My feed looks pretty good and I think it was well mix, my calves seem to do goof on it and they gained well. But it hard to mess up an ear corn feed for calves. Mixing hog feed might be a different story. | |
