Subject: About that 1999 Chevy 4x4,,,,

South Texas

Daddypete,
I can understand how you feel.  My wife bought a year old 1997 Chevy Z71 4x4 with 40K miles as HER truck.  Shortly after, she bought a 2001 Burb and I got the pickup.
It now has 410,000 miles on the original 5.7L engine.  Second transmission and transfer case. Two U joint changes, on the third radiator and I've lost track of power steering pumps (the one weak point.)  Third A/C compressor and stuff like that.  Never left me beside the road and it simply keeps doing whatever I ask it.   I'm 76 so I guess we'll see who gives out first.  Its last job was bringing home 36 bags of QuickCrete for a culvert project I just finished.  I used to pull my Case 450 dozer on short trips but that took some extra welding to beef up the hitch.    Oh, my wife is 81 and will NOT give up her Burb with 220,000 miles and looks and drives pretty much like new.  Great visibility and lots of steel protection all around.
Take care and yes, both would be hard to part with.  Apparently.
Stetts
