Subject: Winter squash and a few shelled peas

East Central Arkansas

Back early this Spring I planted several different kinds of seeds in trays mainly just checking to see if the seeds were still good. Most came up good and survived to make healthy plants. I knew it was really to early to plant the winter squash plants but they were good healthy plants and I couldn't see just throwing them out. So here it is the middle of summer and I have summer squash and pumpkins maturing. I don't know how long I will want to leave the summer squash on the vines but know if they start to sunburn will need to harvest. I guess after harvest place in shade under shed for a few days to sort of cure and then refrigerate for storage. The peas are Southern Purple Hull and are the Top Pick variety. It was cool yesterday afternoon after the rain and I made myself get out and get these picked even though I was give out from getting poly pipe irrigation lines going on the farm.
