North of London | Sometimes those new and 'better' system fixes cause a lot of trouble.
Like you I have a son 'on retainer' to solve my computer problems
He works in IT so usually has the answer before I have the question figured out.
From what you describe I wondered if you just need a new driver for the printer(s)
I think from what my son has said sometimes a company has issues with another company so their 'fixes' mess up the other companies product and they never worry about it or warn the other company about the 'enhancement' so it may take a day or two for a fix to come along
Of course there is always that other issue of an 'old' machine not being supported any longer. OLD in computers appears to be anything over 4-5 years.
I wish you luck
