Just curious, Chad...what specifically has happened to you with the machine that has been a problem with "balance"? Not trying to argue, just trying to learn whatever it is I'm missing after running them for 10 years. You say the balance is bad...what is the specific result of that "bad balance". Been stuck more than with other machines? Felt more "tippy"? Help me learn here.

I agree about the 4038 being different weight distribution...I just can't see why its better. And I also agree that the newer Deere R models are too heavy..That's the main reason we stayed with a 4830 the last trade...didn't want the extra weight. I bet you the rear end of a R4038 is not significantly lighter than the rear end of my 4830...they just added weight to the front by sliding everything forward, and added the rear weight back on by adding heavier booms. JMHO.
