MN | Mainly I would guess the water quality issues stem from being a shallow lake. Max depth of 18 feet. Shallow lakes warm up more with warm weather, and get scum/algae significantly more, which makes them soak up even more heat from the sun. Green Lake is one of the clearer lakes in the area mainly because it is large and deep and the volume of water contained doesn't warm up as much. Some smaller lakes that are spring fed also stay cooler and cleaner as well. | |
