Subject: RE: 15w40 for transdraulic mistake

Sioux County, NWIA
Hy-Tran Ultraction is a 10W-30 oil I’m told. The older Hy-Trans were a lower viscosity oil and when CNH introduced the CVT trans they learned the hard way that Hy-Tran Ultra wasn’t up to the job. One of the changes was to increase the viscosity. The 1835 skid steers that I live with called for 10-40 engine oil plus HTO, the newer 400 series called for 10-30 plus HTO. I started running 10-30 plus HTO in the 1835s about 10 years ago with no trouble. Now I run hydraulic oil. If the hydraulic oil is a 10-30 weight with plenty of zinc compounds in it I’m happy.
