Subject: Insurance releasing dryland corn acres in SW Ks

Talked to a guy in the know on his way back from Southwest Kansas..

"Golly map says 105 out there.. is it that bad?"

"Yes it's a train wreck..they are already zeroing out dryland corn acres.  AND they got another 2 weeks to go in this heat."

"Many acres?"

"Well they didn't plant as much as intended.. but didn't see too many fields that looked very good."

"How about the irrigated is it going to make it?"

"gonna be tough.. wait and see with the forecast.. I guess."

2 years ago alot of this dryland acreage did 120.. 135 bu corn.. 80.. 90 last year.. gonna be alot of zero's before it's all over.

We got about an inch here the other day so our dryland is holding on.. tasseling now.. doesn't look bad.. but it we got rain at this time last year.. and still only did 40 to 60 bu.. so.. UGLY HEAT in the forecast.

fwiw.

NW Kansas and SW Nebraska Colorado dryland and limited water may be in a similar boat..???
