Subject: Dicamba Rant

30 years ago my dad would spray dicamba (Banvel) on his corn with an old TSC sprayer, with non floating booms and no rate controller. He would spray right up to his own beans, and the neighbor's beans, and maybe-MAYBE curl the leaves on one row of beans. I know he sprayed in some conditions that were not perfect either. Now, all these years later, we have supposedly better formulations with different drift suppression technologies and we talk about killing beans MILES away? What is the cause? Simply because of later applications? Different weather? FWIW, I planted all Extend beans this year hoping to clean up the second flush of giant ragweed and marestail. Everyone that borders me planted Enlist beans or straight RR2 beans. I could have sprayed Tavium up to June 30th. I did not. I made the choice to sacrifice some control on my acres and not take a chance on injuring their crops. Right choice? Time will tell I guess.
