| Just a thought. I think a lot of the issues of baling the chewed up straw behind rotary combines can be countered with the newer baler designs. Today’s balers are much more capable than older balers and the quickness of net wrap gets the outside of the bale covered fast before the straw can break up and back feed out the throat during the wrapping process. I’m talking about round balers. I don’t know about square balers.
I don’t bale straw anymore but when we did it’s hard to beat a conventional as far as straw quality. Our 860 Massey always laid a nicer swath than our TX66. The TX 66 laid a bit better swath than the Lexions. I had very little trouble baling behind all of them with a JD567 round baler. In this area people bale behind every colour of combine and they seem to get along fine for the most part.
