Subject: RE: Foliar feeding beans with fungicide and insecticide

Coldwater, Michigan
Calcium Nitrate was always a fun one to play with. Foliar feed Alfalfa with it just as new leaves start to grow after 1st cutting. 2-3 gallons of 8-0-0-8 Ca foliar fed. Sometimes there were definite nutrition differences, others not so much. But why next spring were the stems on the treated alfalfa so much finer? That made a big difference in digestible nutrients. Why did we not see visually, and by analysis, in the year of application? But the following year the difference in growth across the flags was very apparent? How could the 2-3 gallon application of anything even show up the following year?

No clue! But it was repeatable most of the time.
