Peoria,IL. | When our Father died in 1950 my brother was 10 and I was 8. Tractors were hard to drive back then. We had some help the first year .In 51 Mom bought a 60 combine and 52 Mom bought a WD and mounted corn picker .We were able to do most of it then.
In 55 we bought a new hay baler . Then our mom, sisters and us could do everything around the farm.
Mom lived another 59 years .Brother has that farm and I bought farm across the road in 1964,still here.
Farmers had no social security . Mom worked very hard to keep the farm and us together.
So we have been farming 70 years. | |
