Sports is entertainment.

Entertainment is an escape from reality.

The past decade or more tv, and movies, and now sports have started to want to have a message. They don’t want to entertain first.

I think that loses people. There is an initial ‘oh yea I want to be a part of something positive’ but then it turns out it’s not so much positive, it’s just preaching against people, at people, and most folk turn to something else for actual entertainment. The constant barrage gets old fast.

I was watching F1 this morning, and the driver making $40,000,000 a year made an articulate, measured, nicely worded interview of how poorly he has been treated.

And I have to think, hum. I wanted to be entertained, not preached to by a very very rich man who is followed and worshiped by millions of people telling me how hard he has it.

I could go to my child molesting church to get preached to on a Sunday morning, I don’t need it on my sports entertainment.
