It is much more expensive to grow than wheat. The seed alone is about $50-70ac. I put on at least 50lbs/ac more feet. I figure it’s about $50-100/ac more than wheat depending how much fungicide/fert etc...you put on. We grow lots up north here, but I am really limited to what we can grow in a very short season. I can’t grow corn, people do but just for silage, no soybeans. Canola doesn’t like really high heat units. When the temp is 30deg C and it’s blooming, it’s easy to get heat blast. I realize this isn’t hot for you folks down there...lol.
