East Central Ia | I do believe we are getting to the point where last years overstated crop is going to rear its head, I just do not think they have accurately accounted for the lower test weight 19’ crop.
We feed hogs and it became apparent quickly that the same weight in our grinder mixers of 19’ crop simply took up much more volume of space.
Small bins we had full to feed out of are running empty quicker, etc.
The adjustment to rations to slow these hogs down has also resulted in a higher percentage of corn per ton of feed.
I for one am glad we weight our crop at harvest so we have an accurate accounting of our 19’ crop and aren’t relying on bin measurements or “known” capacities.
