Subject: RE: Most Profitable Crop Question

Bow Island, Alberta
We farm in southern Alberta, where our summers generally are warm and dry, so all the most profitable crops are irrigated. For us, hybrid seed crops, like canola and rye, are the most profitable. For commercial growers in the area, potatoes are likely most profitable. Every irrigated farmer probably grows at least a portion of their acreage in a potentially high value crop, like potatoes, sugar beets, edible beans, hemp for grain, mint, etc. Our area is rather unique in Western Canada.
