northeast ohio | I’m not one to post much on AgTalk Cafe but after reading the “defund police” threads, I have an idea. Several AgTalk members mention theft and property destruction. My bet is that a sheriff rarely visits those areas other than for a call. In our county the majority of the time I see a sheriff vehicle it is either traveling on a state highway or setting a speed trap within a city limit or even controlled access US highway. With GPS tracking why couldn’t a department policy be 85% of your time is dedicated to traveling or observing county and township roads. Obviously when there is an emergency using the highway would be permitted, but I see no reason they can’t travel the lesser roads going from point to point, especially when they have the privilege of taking the vehicle home. Part of the officers evaluation is based on the diversity of travel.
This probably won’t go over well if suggest to the county commissioners but on here we can discuss without offending the sheriff office. | |
