Understand your perspective Mark and agree that a beer or two a day is pretty much harmless. Thing is there are many who abuse alcohol and the results are harmful to the individual and others.

If you had to choose between a loved one being addicted to nicotine or alcohol which would it be? I know this might be considered an unfair question but given the number of people who abuse alcohol or are alcoholics it is a legitimate question.

I understand what you are saying but in my experience, almost everyone who lights up a cigarette winds up addicted (probably 95%).

I don't think the number is even 50% for someone who has a beer will become an alcoholic.
