Subject: RE: Wheat harvest with stripper head pictures

West central Ohio
So what's the purpose of the stripper head? Combine run more efficient/ cleaner sample? Does that offset the extra time of mowing and raking the stubble? Lots of guys around here cut wheat with a regular grain head then mow the stubble. Never much understood the reasoning of not just using the combine to do all the work of 2 other machines. I bale 300-400 acres a year behind a 7230 CIH pushing a 35ft Draper. Height of stubble ranges from shaved to 6 inches. Combine windrows. Works very well.
